Ibrahimovic invites Lukaku to Sanremo after Milan Derby fight

Manchester United is set to land Lautaro Martinez after Inter Milan failed to meet payment for Romelu Lukaku, according to Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport.

Inter Milan has taken several players off United’s hands in recent transfer windows, with Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Ashley Young all making the switch to Antonio Conte’s side.

Lukaku was the costliest addition for Inter Milan, setting them back a club-record €80 million.

However, after joining Inter almost 18 months ago, the Nerazzurri still seemingly owe Man United €50 million for Lukaku’s deal.

When Man United sold the Belgium international to Inter, they included a clause in the contract that said ”if the San Siro club failed to meet any of the deadlines set for payments, then they immediately become a debtor of United” for the full remaining fee.

The deadline has passed for a payment related to bonuses. This has now triggered the aforementioned clause, leaving Inter Milan €50 million in debt to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

The report added that Man United’s hierarchy has begun to propose various solutions to help pay off the debt, one of which includes Inter Milan sending one of Lautaro Martinez or Milan Skriniar to Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan owners, Jiangsu Suning, are having some financial troubles currently, which recently caused them to cease operations at one of their other clubs, Jiangsu FC.

The Serie A giants recently missed a payment to Real Madrid for Achraf Hakimi.
